August 22, 2024I've been using the Apple AirPods (3rd Generation) for about a week now, and I must say, they have exceeded my expectations in several ways. Here’s a detailed review based on my experience:
Fit and Comfort
One of the standout features for me is the fit. These AirPods never fall out of my ears, even during intense activities like running or working out. The design is more ergonomic compared to previous models, and the shorter stems make them less obtrusive¹.
Sound Quality
The sound quality is impressive, with a notable improvement in bass depth and clarity. The Adaptive EQ adjusts the sound in real-time based on the shape of your ear, providing a balanced and immersive listening experience². Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking adds a new dimension to music and movies, making it feel like the sound is coming from all around you³.
Battery Life
Battery life is solid, offering up to 6 hours of listening time on a single charge and up to 30 hours with the MagSafe charging case². The case itself is compact and supports wireless charging, which is a convenient feature.
Durability
These AirPods are IPX4-rated, meaning they are resistant to sweat and water. This makes them a great choice for workouts and outdoor activities³.
Connectivity
Pairing with Apple devices is seamless, thanks to the H1 chip. The connection is stable, and switching between devices is effortless. Hands-free Siri is a nice touch, allowing you to control your music and get information without touching your phone².
Downsides
While the open-ear design is comfortable, it doesn’t provide much noise isolation. This can be a downside if you’re in a noisy environment. Additionally, some features are limited to Apple devices, so Android users might not get the full experience³.
Overall, the Apple AirPods (3rd Generation) are a fantastic upgrade, especially if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem. They offer great sound quality, a comfortable fit, and useful features that enhance the overall listening experience. If you’re looking for reliable and high-quality wireless earbuds, these are definitely worth considering.
Terrible product - too big and do not stay in ear

December 13, 2024Having had wired apple earphones and having used my husband's 2nd generation AirPods I purchased 3 sets of these for myself and my daughters (who had also previously used apple wired earphones) and was very excited to get these. HOWEVER, when I opened these I found that the earpieces are much bigger than previous apple earphones and just wont stay in my ear. The left ones pop out if I smile and won't stay in place more than a minute or 2 even without moving my face. I might get 10mins if I'm lucky with the right ear. Thankfully I was able to return the 2 other sets as these had been purchased for Xmas presents and so hadn't yet been opened, but John Lewis have refused to refund the opened pair instead insisting that I need to travel from Northern Ireland to England or Scotland to have an evaluation to see if they're eligible for a refund. The cost of doing this would be more than the headphones and there's no guarantee they would refund them anyway so obviously this isn't an option. This seems at odds with the return policy which lists items that can't be returned as "Items you've opened or unsealed, other than where necessary to inspect". Clearly it was necessary for me to open these to inspect them and find out that they wouldn't fit in my ear. I think this is very poor service from John Lewis, who I have previously found to be great. I am so disappointed in this product and the service from John Lewis and won't be purchasing from them again unless they resolve this. So much money down the drain on a product that I can't even use. Terrible
[Rewarded Review] Great sound and performance, but too fragile.

August 6, 2024I really would love to give a great review on these AirPods. When I first got them, I thought they were the best. I was amazed by the noise canceling capability of something so small. Unfortunately, the feelings towards these things didn’t last. Literally about a month after the warranty expired, one of the buds started making a horrendous hissing sound when noise canceling was enabled. The hissing noise was so loud that it was immediately kind of painful to wear. At this point, I decided to try to take the defective AirPod in and get it repaired/replaced. It was only one of them, and I assumed that they had to have a manufacturer defect because they never left my desk. These were used almost exclusively for my home office during the pandemic. So I figured it would be replaced almost immediately upon inspection at an Apple Store. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The replacement/repair cost was almost the cost of a new pair of AirPods. If I did go and get it replaced, I would not be able to get them under any kind of warranty through Apple. If the other one that wasn’t having any problems suddenly started doing the same thing, I would be completely out of luck. So no thank you on the repair. I decided to go another route for ear buds. It’s too bad though because they work pretty well otherwise. These things are too expensive to be considered a disposable item. Offer better support/repair options, or maybe offer a steep discount on trading in bad AirPods for brand new ones. It’s doesn’t seem very eco friendly of Apple to treat these things that disposable. Unfortunately, I really doubt that Apple will change their support options on these things.
I wanted to love them, I really did

July 11, 2024As I already have several Apple devices, I decided to invest in AirPods. I didn't want to spend $250 on pros, so I decided to try out the 3rd generation AirPods. I have to say, I was very disappointed and ended up returning them only 2 days after purchasing. I think the biggest thing for me was the fact that they would not sit comfortably in my ears, no matter what I did. I specifically felt like the left one was prone to falling out, which is unacceptable for headphones that cost $130ish (I got them during a sale). Because they would not sit comfortably in my ears, I felt like the sound quality was not great too. In addition to sound and fit, I was also disappointed that the case for these was not MagSafe/ they couldn't be charged wirelessly. I am attempting to limit the amount of chargers I need for my devices, and this was just another disappointment. I did love some features (finger tapping to answer phone calls, pausing music/ videos when one AirPod is removed from the ear, etc.), this did not make up for the poor design choices. Overall, I was disappointed. Pros: Double-tap feature (to play, skip forward, answer phone calls), interfacing between devices, pausing feature Cons: Poor design causing AirPods to fall out, not a MagSafe case
