Before I start I’ll say this, Govee outdoor lights are an absolute amazing product and I’m 10/10 impressed with the outdoors customization ability and quality .

The reason for 3 stars is this:

1. Although the Govee outdoor lights are customizable, the ability to jump from one eve to the next is near impossible with only the single 12’ extension provided. Govee does not allow you to purchase this separately (at least when I contacted them they said they didn’t ) . If you have a straight line then you’ll be fine but if you have a multiple level roof, you’re in trouble .

2. The 3m tape that sticks to the eve =garbage. Unless you live in Florida and have a metal or aluminum product to stick the lights too then forget it, they will fall down. If you try and install these lights on plastic or vent soffit then you need to use the clips provided. Which leads me too number 3.

3. The clips provided =more garbage. Not only to the clips not hold the lights properly but they only give 4 small packs which may contain 5-8 clips(not sure the actual amount but it’s very low). I started to use the clips and to install properly they need two clips per light . Govee provides a fraction of this.

When I contacted Govee to buy another extension I wasn’t able too with Govee telling me they shouldn’t extend past 150’. I only bought 100’ so another extension would not put me past that distance.

For a company who has such an amazing product these things are a huge hinderance in bringing this product to where it could be.

Overall amazing lights and would buy again. They just need to work on a few things.
Love them

Can’t say enough positive things about my first experience with govee. My wife wanted permanent lights like our neighbors gemstone lights. After seeing the cost of those I found Govee on Amazon and did quite a lot of researching reviews and watching YouTube installs. I didn’t feel comfortable cutting and splicing so I planned accordingly and ordered 100ft to place around the front of my house with the plan to expand to my garage peak once I learned more about splicing.

Install day went smooth, however I would stress to plan very well before installing anything. I laid out lights, measured everything numerous times and ended up getting about 6ft wrap on both sides of house. This way the install is even and looks really professional. As for the install process I ordered a pack of similar wire clips from Amazon and I secured each light with adhesive and a clip held in place with a screw into my aluminum soffit. It’s been a month and I’ve had no issues with the adhesive (and shouldn’t due to all the clips). I ended up placing lights as far away from the house as I could (~16 inches) as we liked the diffused look better, but it’s all personal preference.

As for the wire, I have blue soffits and I really do plan on eventually covering with a piece of blue j trim or something similar. In saying that in the month I’ve had them installed, the wire has not bothered me as I thought it would. I notice it because I’m looking, but even my neighbor with gemstone lights admitted she’d rather have spent the much lower price and have the wire showing. Possibly next year I’ll see about covering it up.

As for the app, it is quite intimidating at first and I found trying to create my own patterns confusing and honestly overwhelming with all the options. However, I watched a few YouTube videos and now I’ve created a few different sports themes and a feature spot light using individual lights. A few weeks using the app has me quite comfortable using it and super impressed with the unlimited options. The best part so far is my kids picking the ready to use light themes in the app and they run out to the front yard to check their choice out.

For the price I really cannot find one negative thing to say, very happy. With canadian winter approaching quick I’m hopeful they stand up to the cold, but have no reason to think they won’t.
Awesome Lights

These are great lights. fairly easy to install. We have metal soffit so they stuck well.I did wipe the surface with clean rag and alcohol to clean. About every 4 th light ended up on a joint or a v in the soffit, so double clipped these ones. Next day went back over and double clipped all the lights. The screws for the clips could use a self tapper end. I did find out after a bit if you lined up the clips in line with the little slots in the soffit the screws started easier. The only other problem is not sure how to make the lights a solid color. We are not much for the flashing lights. In the App there is a theme called Working, the lights stay solid white We do like this,I just think in the App the first thing you see should be all the colors available and be able to choose the color you want. All the themes on the app with the fancy names are just not for us except the special occasions
Fantastic upgrade from "traditional" Christmas lights

I was stuck in the "Christmas lights loop" for years of getting a strings of lights from a Canadian hardware store that also sells Tires only to have them last one season. The following year I'd go back and buy new sets to replace the ones that no longer worked; rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

No more!! These Govee lights are wonderful and permanent so I never need to bother taking them down like I did with the old-style Christmas lights. They tuck away nicely on the soffits so you don't even notice they're there when they're not on, and when they're on the lights look absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to put them on for Valentine's Day, Easter, my birthday (!!!), Halloween, and anything else I feel like. Highest recommendation. It's time to put the old school Christmas lights out to pasture and get a modern upgrade.
