January 16, 2019Overall:
i bought this as a backup to my computer recording systems. im a home retired musician that was having some hard drive skips/glitches in my systems. this little recorder does what i need it to do when my computers decide to take a day off. yes the computers have large monitors and vu meters to see, but this recorder is very clean and easy to get up and running once you understand tascam procedures . also should i want to downsize to 1 keyboard that doesnt have audio recording , this makes and easy add on at a reasonable price. i did a test recording , mastered it, saved it and transfered it to my windows 10 and linux computers with no problems under 15 mins. once you get the hang of it ,its pretty seamless. my computers are easier but like i said this is a great backup. the only con is that the screen is not back lit and pretty small to see, but this ol mans eyes can handle it. as usual zZounds customer service, fast shipping is outstanding. they played a major part in building my little keyboard rig/and studio. thanks!
So far OK

October 12, 2022I'm happy. I know this device too little to express myself, so far I managed to mix some simple recordings. The sound on the AKG monitor headphones is a bit low, maybe it's a matter of matching the impedance levels of the headphones or the sound sources. The line is audible well only on the MIC setting - but it may be from my ignorance or a mismatch in the equipment. Once mastered, the functions become easy and obvious. As for me, it could be a bit less chaos in the switches. Great that you can use SD cards. At this price, however, the lack of a filtered 5V power supply is a misunderstanding.
This is probably the general purpose device you need if you want to record audio at CD quality and haven't done it before.

January 2, 2019This is a good quality recording device including microphones, which can record and save two tracks at the standard sample rate of 44.1 KHZ with bit depth of 16 bits (which is all that is needed as long as record levels are set correctly). In addition, each 'song' consists of six tracks (two fully independent mono and two stereo) which can play back while it is recording other tracks, and can optionally feed back into the recording ('sound on sound'). It mimics the functionality of an actual tape recorder, and is similar to how Audacity works on a PC including having infinite undos. Most users will just use the recording feature, export to a .wav file and edit on Audacity rather than use the tiny LCD display. But it is good to be able to hear other tracks while recording one or two. I should say, you can't really record directly onto say a laptop risk of digital noise, so something like this is needed to record reliably. It can fit onto a tripod.
High-Quality Recording, Portable, Easy To Use, and a Low Price!

February 9, 2023Works exactly as it should. I got it to replace my DP-004, which had been a great recorder for 8-9 years, having recorded several albums of other bands and for my own projects. This one works exactly the same way, except for the addition of stereo track capability, which is great. The tracks sound crystal clear, and are very easy to work with. I'd recommend the DP-006 to anyone.
