Everyone would want HD quality IR, and maybe some day as technology progresses it will come to be - but not today. BUT - the resolution of the 167 is definitely "sufficient", at least sufficient enough to do many jobs without real compromise. It is amazing how much detail it can provide. A hot spot in the target area jumps out at you, and it is very easy to distinguish from - the rest. Gradients are easy to see also, and this is helpful for certain jobs. This instrument does not allow you to single out the specific hot spot and read its temperature though.....you only can see by the color on the display that it IS hotter than what is around it; and if you get an almost white color for the target you'll know it is a LOT hotter. So I guess it depends on what you are trying to do, as to whether this one is right for you. To get a resolution upgrade it takes this one's price, times 4 or 5. So this one is quite a deal.

I love this device. I have an electrically heated driveway. This is the only tool that allows me to see if it is working properly and the temp that the coils are generating.The resolution is a bit small and the photo capture could include a temp reading. Otherwise, this is a great tool. You would be surprised on how many other uses I have found for this thing. It is a load of fun too!Moreover, the customer service was great. I have several questions about the device. The rep was very helpful and patient. They had the best price and shipping was fast. I would recommend the TG167 and tequipment.net to anyone. Thanks!

Flir over price everything! Thes POS has a terrible reaolution! Is just blur , very difficult to see anything on the screen! The temperature scale on the right corner doesn't show the temperature range! It uses a infrered sensor instead a true Infrared camera! Is you doesn't align the sensor properly to the spot it doesn't show the right temperature! Is a scam! 400 bucks down to drain! Save tht money and purchase another thing! The saved pictures is ridiculous! No temperature info! No color temperature scale! Is basically a screenshot! Be aware it sucks!

Ive seen these get used to find issues on a mother board, like to see whats causing a short and all that, a lot of these are very expensive but for the price I got this for and for the job, I definitely recommend it! Helped me find a short in seconds and I fixed the board, great quality, great camera, great price!
