Expensive Stud Finder
George Tzanetos· Review provided by Google · November 30, 2024
It's very good at locating studs and the center of studs, but is subpar at pretty much everything else. It cannot locate wires (or at least ones stapled to a stud) and the syncing process with your phone that needs to be done every time is annoying. I got it so that I could avoid wires more easily. My $20 stud finder from Home Depot can find the studs nearly as well. Given the price, it is a disappointment.

Their instructional videos are deceptive because all the wires shown are floating between studs. I'm not an electrician, but it's my understanding that wires need to be secured to a stud. Walabot shows it this way because it cannot locate them when they are secured to a stud.

This Walabot DIY2 does just what it is designed for. A little pricey but it is the best stud finder made (IMHO) still working on figuring out how it works but first opinion is it is just really freaking awesome! Shipping from this seller was amazing! 2 days from purchase to my door. It worked like it is supposed to and for open box item, thats all I hoped for. Thanks for an A++ experience with you and EBay!

Nice wall scanner. Gives simulated images of studs/wires/pipes in the wall, and this advanced version also has an expert mode that produces heat maps to see other things in the wall (such as rodents, etc). As far as I can tell, it does not actually give x-ray vision of other items in the wall which many review videos seem to suggest. * Have only used it for about an hour at time of review.
[Rewarded Review] False advertising?

It has no screen. Hooks up to your cell phone, after much hassle. Lots of calibrating that just takes time and doesn't resolve most of the time. Makes it an awkward 2 handed, inaccurate hassle. For $187, where's the screen? Got 3 hands? Plus, it's not as accurate as the video shows. Might be worth it if you want to know if there are pipes or wires, but there are better, cheaper ways to find these things. TV cameras with a small monitor will show you for sure.
