And the speech - which included references to the 'ghastly Delta variant' and 'looking ahead to the future' - wowed social media users, with one branding it 'spot on.'

'I just know there is a speech writer shaking and crying as they delete pages of drafts,' wrote one, while a second joked: 'Queen is 100% going to lip sync her speech to this audio.'

In the amusing video, which has so far received over 170,000 likes and 2,500 comments, Julian - in Her Majesty's voice - begins: '2021 has been a year like no other.'

'Ever since the coronavirus pandemic started in March of last year, we've had to adjust to living at home, reducing our social interaction as way of combatting transmission.

The introduction of the next scene life was looking hopeful until of course, the ghastly Delta variant was born and forced many of us back into lockdown.

But now, and as always, we look ahead to the future and wish you and your family, wherever you may be, a very happy Christmas.'
