A sensational claim made in a report in British daily 'The Times' set social media and messaging platforms abuzz on Tuesday.
The report claimed that the Chinese military used microwave weapons against Indian soldiers to make them retreat during the border standoff in eastern Ladakh.
The British daily cited a Beijing-based professor, with little corroboration or acknowledgment from any authoritative sources.
Jin Canrong, a professor of international relations at the Beijing-based Renmin University, claimed during a lecture that Chinese troops turned two strategic hilltops 'into a microwave oven', forcing Indian soldiers to retreat.
Turns out 'The Times' failed to corroborate the absurd claims of the professor.
