Ok so I was rewatching Merlin and I’m thinking, what if the morteus flower did nothing. What if they really were too late. In the episode you hear Gwen and Gaius say that his heart and breathing has stopped. What if the only reason he came back was because Emrys is immortal and that he can’t die?

My theory is that his body went into a stasis until it could support life again, i.e. when the cure began to set in. It would explain why he died temporarily but came back, and would imply that he also died from the Dorocha until his body was able to support him once more.

Okay, well, now I'm thinking about the repercussions, those being that Merlin has a precarious notion of what is and what is not deadly to normal people

Knights, on a quest: oh no, sir Something fell down the cliff! Oh, he was such a good man...

Merlin: what are we waiting for, let's go get him, he might have broken something

Arthur: Merlin, be more respectful. We just lost a good man...

Merlin: he probably just broke an arm, it's not that high

Arthur: Merlin there is no way anyone survives a fall like this

Merlin: what do you mean? I've fallen this same cliff like four times

Arthur:

Knights:

Merlin:

Merlin: I usually just pass out for a moment, but then it's fine
