Shelley, from the North Shore club, is hosting the Mid-Winter Christmas at Miranda Holiday Park which is the highlight of YY’s Auckland Regions winter calendar. Why not join them from the Bay of Plenty?
Leaders are Shelley, Joya and Rob.

We will base ourselves at Miranda holiday Park     http://www.mirandaholidaypark.co.nz/

This is just an hour south east of Auckland and a lovely place to stay on the Sea Bird Coast with landscaped grounds and a hot natural mineral pool.

Friday travel to Miranda, soak in the hot pools, meet up at 9pm in the camp Kitchen.

Saturday we are planning to paddle on the Te Aramoana Trail or the Coromandel Coast depending on weather. High tide is 10.59am so we will get back in plenty of time to get the Christmas dinner under way.

Saturday night we will have a shared Christmas dinner. Shelley will do a baked ham. We’ll need roast veges, greens, cooked chooks, salads, puddings, nibbles etc.  Let us know what food you would like to bring so we can ensure we have enough of the right stuff.

Bring a small Christmas gift, maximum of $10.
Don’t forget to wear your Christmas Bling and Santa Hats!

Sunday we can do a short paddle if we have time. We are planning a visit to the new Vector Wero Whitewater Park on the way home.
Entry is free, or if you want to take part in a raft ride or kayak a river, you can book activities on line.
Take a look, it’s pretty exciting and a world leader in white water parks.

If the weather is too bad to kayak there are plenty of options around Miranda.
Miranda Hot Mineral Pools, Miranda Shorebird Centre, Clevedon Farmers Market, Walks in the Hunua Ranges, Hunua Falls and Dams, Paeroa Antique shopping, Thames movies and cafes, Ngatea Water Gardens, Biking on the Hauraki Rail Trail and lots more fun  further afield around the Coromandel Peninsular.

How about bringing your non-kayaking family along for the weekend?

If you're keen to attend you need to be a current club member and have completed a 2 day skills course. Please register with Shelley
