Kazuo Shiraga Exhibition

Amagasaki Cultural Center
Until Sep 23

Artists

Kazuo Shiraga
Kazuo Shiraga's work is known for his unique action painting style, where he vigorously moves across the canvas with copious paint. The powerful images created by the fluidity and heaviness of the paint allow viewers to perceive the dynamism of the body and traces of the spirit.

In 2024, Shiraga will celebrate his 100th birthday. The commemorative room, along with works from Amagasaki City's collection, will exhibit photographs introducing Shiraga's upbringing and materials from the Gutai Art Association, where he played a central role, in reflecting on his artistic career.

As the third collaboration project with the commemorative room, a special collection of Shiraga's works presented by the men's fashion brand Almostblack celebrating his 100th birthday will be displayed.
