TV legend Barry Scott of Cillit Bang fame is returning to telly advertising for the first time in two years after being dumped by the cleaning product
He was replaced by younger model Daniel Cloud Campos but the firm have re-hired him.
It means the familiar sound of Barry’s catchphrase "Bang, and the dirt is gone!" will re-emerge on the nation’s telly sets.
A source told the Sun's Bizarre column Barry, who was voted tenth sexiest male fictional character in a Foxy Bingo survey, was being drafted back in because bosses at Cillit Bang had rued the day they got rid of him.
They said: “Rumours are that the bosses at Cillit Bang have realised they had made a mistake getting rid of Barry.
“When people think of Cillit Bang, they think of Barry Scott. Just like Walkers and Gary Lineker.
"The return of Barry will bring a load more attention to the brand and the public will be glad to see him back on their screens."
Madonna’s lead backing dancer Daniel danced through a filthy garage whilst cleaning oily mess in a Flashdance inspired advert after Barry had left.
The firm paid tribute to the advertising legend in a farewell video.
The company worked together with a famous mash up artist and created a hilarious clip which includes every advert Barry has ever starred in.
The footage has been cleverly edited so Barry comes out with some hilarious lines like “Hi I’m annoying” and: “Hi I’m hard work.”
The video ends with the TV personality just saying "bang" over and over again.
It comes as Barry was named tenth most fancied male fictional character in a survey conducted by Foxy Bingo.
Ahead of him were the likes of Mr Darcy from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice – which was played by Colin Firth – Spiderman and the Foxy Bingo fox, who was played by Hangover actress Heather Graham.
At the time of Barry’s departure, Elise Cockley, category manager, teased that he was gone for the “time being”.
She said: “While we have parted ways with Barry Scott for the time being, we are really excited to introduce everyone to our new hero and campaign, which aims to make cleaning almost exciting.”
