Sarfaraz Khan earned his maiden called-up to the Indian Cricket Team ahead of the second Test match in Vizag. Almost a decade since his Ranji Trophy debut in December 2014, Sarfaraz has been finally rewarded with a national team call-up. 

Sarfaraz's brother, Musher Khan, is currently plying his trade with the Indian National Team, at the ICC U19 World Cup.

After KL Rahul was ruled out of the second Test due to an injury in the right quadriceps, Khan was named as his replacement.

Now former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has backed Sarfaraz Khan to make it to the Indian Playing XI for the first time in his career.

What did Harbhajan say about Sarfaraz Khan?

Harbhajan Singh, on his YouTube channel, congratulated Sarfaraz Khan for earning his maiden call-up to the Indian team. The Turbanator believes that the consistency is on Sarfaraz's side, and has backed him to be picked ahead of Rajat Patidar.

The legendary spinner said,

I think Sarfaraz should play. He has been scoring a lot of runs in domestic cricket. He has performed well in the games against England Lions as well. 

The Mumbai batter scored 220 runs in 3 innings for India A, against the England Lions. It included a match-winning knock of 161 runs, off 160 deliveries.

When will the 2nd Test between India and England start?

After losing the inaugural Test in Hyderabad, hosts India would want to make a comeback in the second Test match. The second match will be played between February 02, 2024 and February 06. 

The ACA-VDCA Stadium will play centerstage in the all-important game. England would want to get a firm hold of the series by winning two out of two matches, early on in the series.
