Allison Stokke stars in GoPro video

Allison Stokke was a record-setting pole vaulter at Newport Harbor. The 2007 graduate went on to compete for Cal and is now training for the 2016 Olympics.
Allison Stokke, a former standout at Newport Harbor High, is part of an action video produced by the makers of the GoPro cameras that show you what it's like to pole vault.

Former Newport Harbor pole vaulter Allison Stokke stars in an action video produced by GoPro that is getting a lot of attention on YouTube.

In the video, Stokke gives you an idea of what it’s like to pole vault. Viewers are taken along as the 2007 Newport Harbor graduate speeds toward the pit and launches herself to great heights.

“Pole-vaulting is a rush. It’s so frustrating, but I think that’s what makes it so fun,” Stokke says in the video.

It’s a fun and interesting video, and it’s great to see the former Sailors standout still competing. The Cal graduate plans to try for a spot in 2016 Olympics.
