1.  Mount Victoria, Devonport

It's a 12 minute ferry crossing to the pretty seaside village of Devonport and the location of arguably the best view of the Auckland skyline.  At the top of the High street, take the 15 minute steep walk or, drive and park at the summit of Mount Victoria to enjoy panoroamic views of Auckland city, the Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto Island and the North Shore. 
2.  Piha Beach

Piha is Auckland's most famous beach and situated in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park on the west coast.  As you drive down to the beach you'll be met with this sweeping view of the beach that's split into two by the iconic and much photographed Lion Rock. 
3.  Mount Eden

Close to the city centre, Mount Eden is a protected archaeological site that's also home to the highest volcano in Auckland.  The combination of a 50-metre deep crater and 360 views of the Auckland region make it a popular sightseeing spot.  4.  Waitakere Ranges

The Waitakere Ranges Regional Park is 40,000 acres of rugged coastline, waterfalls and rainforest on the city's west coast.  The visitor centre is not only a good place to learn about the area but includes some fantastic views.5.  Waiheke Island


A 35 minute ferry is all it takes to reach Waiheke Island which is home to an array of award-winning vineyards and stunning beaches. It's a cliche but true - there are stunning views at every turn. Oneora and Onetangi are the beaches to head to, while many of the vineyards enjoy fabulous views and wines to sample!
6.  The Skytower

At 192 metres tall, The Skytower is obvious choice to head to for epic 360 views of Auckland.  However, the added spectacle of jumping off, or walking around the tower, means you can take sightseeing to the thrilling next level. 
7.  Orewa Beach

Auckland has a huge choice of beaches but head north of the city to Orewa and you'll discover one of the city's finest beaches. Drive a couple of minutes past the beach (heading north) and pull over to the lookout for a stunning view of the beach. 
8.  Westhaven Marina

One of the best views of Auckland Bridge and Waitemata Harbour is from Westhaven Marina.  As the sun sets, the sight of the twinking lights from the hundreds of boats and bridge itself is one not to miss.  During the daytime, it's also a good spot to watch the bridge climbers and bungy jumpers leaping off the bridge.
9.  Rangitoto Island

A dominant landmark of the city, Rangitoto Island is a 5.5 kilometre wide volcanic island that stands at 260 metres.  The 45 minute trek to the summit will reward you with great views of the city and Hauraki Gulf.  A ferry service from the dowtown terminal offers twice daily 35 minute trips to the island.
10.  Achilles Point

Achilles Point is a scenic lookout point found along Cliff Road, a few minutes drive from Mission Bay and just past St Heliers Bay.  Enjoying a headland location, Achilles Point provides a viewing platform with fantastic views of the Hauraki Gulf, Brown's Island, Rangitoto Island and distant view of Auckland City.
