IPL 2023: Wanted to play for Punjab Kings in the last 2-3 years of my career, says Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh admitted that in the final few years of his career he wanted to play for Punjab Kings in the IPL. Harbhajan played in the IPL till 2021 and represented MI, CSK and KKR.

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has admitted that he did want to play for Punjab Kings in the final few years of his career in the IPL.

Harbhajan is considered to be one of the bonafide legends of the IPL as he has picked up 150 wickets from 163 matches. The former spinner played for Mumbai Indians for the majority of his time in the league and has also represented Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knightriders before calling time on his career. Alongside CSK, he won one IPL title under MS Dhoni before finishing his time in the IPL with KKR.

Harbhajan is now serving as a commentator for Star Sports during IPL 2023 and was asked via #AskStar was he happy playing for Mumbai Indians or he wanted to play for Punjab Kings.

The former spinner admitted that in the last two to three years of his career he wanted to represent PBKS in the IPL and utilise his skills for the benefit of the Mohali-based franchise.

“I didn’t get the chance to play for the Punjab Kings. In the last 2-3 years of my career, I wanted to represent the Punjab Kings in the IPL and utilise what skills I had left for the benefit of the team," said Harbhajan.

Harbhajan went on to comment about his time in MI and said it was memorable as he won three IPL titles with them. The former spinner said that the energy was next level while playing alongside Sachin Tendulkar in the big MI team.

"But the 10 years I played for Mumbai were really memorable. Great memories, and I won three trophies over there, I can never forget those moments in my life. It was a very big team, and to play with Sachin Tendulkar, in that team, the energy was next level.”
