In Short

  • I've played 10 years for Mumbai Indians, it is my life: Harbhajan Singh
  • Harbhajan played for MI from 2008 to 2017 and led them in 30 matches, winning 14 of them
  • But Bhajji also said that he was "grateful for the love" that he is getting at Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings fans might not be too impressed with Harbhajan Singh as the ace cricketer chose Mumbai Indians over his current team as his favourite side in the Indian Premier League on Thursday.

The veteran off-spinner was put in a spot by a fan who asked him which team was his favourite between Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan's former team, and Chennai Super Kings, the team he has been playing for the last two seasons.

Harbhajan picked Mumbai Indians but gave a perfectly logical explanation for his choice.

"I've played 10 years for Mumbai Indians, it is my life. I can never forget the memories I shared their, the crowd, Wankhede Stadium. My heart is with Mumbai Indians. But now I'm with Chennai Super Kings. I'm grateful for the love that I'm getting here. But I will have to chose Mumbai," Harbhajan Singh, who is spending the lockdown in his Mumbai house, said during a live chat on Instagram.

Harbhajan was with the Mumbai Indians from 2008 to 2017 and even led the team for 30 games before Rohit Sharma took over. Bhajji had led MI to the Champions League title in 2011.

Another fan asked which country he likes more - India or England?

"You guys are putting me in trouble. I'm from India and my wife (Geeta Basra) is from England. India is my life and so is my wife," Bhajji said.

He also gave his point of view on the IPL and whether he thinks it will take place this year or not. The cash-rich tournament has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"I don't think IPL will happen because lot of people are dying so IPL is not that important at this point in time. Looking after people and saving lives is more important than cricket right now. Cricket can happen next year as well," Harbhajan said.
