Charming village Saône-et-Loire in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, Gigny-sur-Saône is located near Sennecey-le-Grand, about forty kilometers from Mâcon and its vineyards. It takes place on the right bank of the Saone, not far from Chalon-sur-Saone.
Gigny-sur-Saône has always been, over the centuries, turned towards navigation and fluvial trade. An ancient port in the Gallo-Roman period, the village continues to develop during the Middle Ages, particularly with the construction of its chapel. Relaying water coaches until the creation of major roads, it is now oriented to river tourism, especially since the development of its boating.
The small town also has a modest historical heritage that bears witness to the glorious past of Gigny-sur-Saône.
