They promised us he'd be back and now, just over a year after Cillit Bang's Barry Scott was replaced by a younger, hotter model, it looks like he finally is.

Barry was replaced by Daniel Cloud Campos in the Cillit Bang adverts last summer, with the young dancer taking inspiration from Flashdance in the ads as he cavorted around a garage spraying the product.

But even in its final sort-of tribute advert to Barry, the company hinted that it was only the last we'd seen of everyone's favourite cleaning products enthusiast "for now" and, sure enough, he's been creeping back onto the TV advertising scene.

Now, Cillit Bang has finally made its intentions clear with a quick seven-second teaser ad posted on YouTube today (September 28).

Yes, that's right – Barry Scott is officially BACK, and he's back in typical, no-nonsense shouty style too.

A longer version of Barry's return was posted to YouTube earlier this week, featuring the British cult icon bursting onto the scene to rave about Cillit Bang's new "bangtastic, shinetastic, easy peasy" formula.

Altogether now, everyone: "BANG! And the dirt is gone."

Barry's return to UK advertising space appears to have been building slowly over the last week or so, with many social media users reporting they'd been hearing him on radio adverts, on YouTube and, most amazingly of all, on Instagram.

And, of course, not everyone is particularly happy to see his return:

Still, if Go Compare's all-singing and entertaining Gio Compare can come back from being killed off and being kicked at, we're sure Barry Scott can return and thrive after his small hiatus.
