Inspiron 3650, SSD, change boot order?

My system is Dell Inspiron 3650. I added SSD for bootable purpose. SSD recognized as 2nd HDD but boot order still old HDD. How can I switch? I navigated all but I can not find boot order.

A couple of thoughts. Try turning secure boot off. Also when you installed Windows on the SSD, is Windows still on the HDD? That will play havoc with booting. And when you installed Windows , a clean install I assume, did you disconnect the HDD then install on the SSD? If 2 drives are available Windows might install some files on Drive 1. Once you have Windows booting from the SSD then shut down and connect the HDD but make sure no Windows files are on the HDD. One last thought. Restart the system and at the Dell splash screen start tapping F12. Select the SSD then try to boot from it. That will let you know if the SSD is actually bootable.

Windows Media Creation tool.

Or for the Dell factory image.

BIOS is not a boot manager.

You have to remove the hard drive then clean install onto the new SSD.

Would this work the same with an SSD that was cloned from an HHD?

In other words, if I cloned my SSD and install it in the first slot for 2.5 inch drives, I would have to wipe the OS off 3.5" HHD if I still want to leave it in the computer and use it as storage with the SSD being the boot drive.

Is that accurate?

Thanks, Dan

SSD M2 does not properly clone to HDD because HDD is SATA and M2 is PCI-E.

Neither Dell Nor Microsoft Support Cloning.

You don't have to wipe Either Drive But you do have to install with the Other Device NOT PHYSICALLY IN The machine.

Once the Boot Options are removed from F2 CMOS Setup you can set for either device being the primary boot.

The issues come from having BOTH DRIVES LIVE AND RUNNING WHILE INSTALLING OS.

Drive Letters Change as does the BCD.
