How many wonders can one hairdo hold? Little girl flaunts AMAZING Little Mermaid-themed locks for 'crazy hair day' at school - and inspires others to share their own spectacular efforts

  • Four-year-old Atlantis Castillo from Houston, Texas wore a Little Mermaid doll on her head, with her hair in a braid to look like the tail
  • Her mother, April Castillo, spent about a half hour on it
  • The look went viral after a tweet from big sister Ariel, who later wrote that Atlantis won the school competition
  • Other parents have replied with their own kids' crazy hair looks

A creative mother from Houston, Texas truly went above and beyond for 'crazy hair day' at her four-year-old daughter's school — and ended up inspiring other Twitter users who wanted to be part of their world.

Rather than take the easy route, April Castillo transformed her daughter Atlantis' hair into a look worthy of a Disney princess. In fact, her look actually was a Disney princess.

Little Atlantis went to school with Little Mermaid locks, her strands braided and sprayed green to make the tail before an actual Ariel doll was snugly placed in the middle.

Atlantis' big sister — whose name happens to be Ariel — shared pictures online that have quickly gone viral

'My sister had crazy hair day at school today and my mom was not playing games and really wanted her to win,' she wrote.

Atlantis had a French braid running down the back of her head, which had been sprayed all over with bright green temporary dye.

An Ariel doll — with her signature red hair and a purple bikini top — popped out of the top of the braid.

According to sister Ariel, the whole thing took about 25 minutes.

'My mom picked the hairstyle, she had seen people use a paper doll and wasn’t really feeling it so she went the extra mile and added a real life doll,' she told BuzzFeed.

'My parents have always had quite an obsession with under the sea so my sisters and I have always loved mermaids,' she went on.

Atlantis was thrilled with the result and wore it the rest of the day.

'She loved it so much and didn’t want to take it off. She even went to her gymnastics class with her hair like that,' said Ariel.

And according to a later tweet, Atlantis did win the contest at pre-k.

'Y’all just wait for my mom the upcoming year!' she wrote.

The tweet with Atlantis' pictures has been liked three quarters of a million times in just two days and earned lots of approving comments.

The fun family has also inspired other parents to post pictures of their own kids on crazy hair days at school.

One little girl went for a galaxy theme with gold glitter, a rocket, and the moon on her head.

A few little girls wore their hair in buns on either side of their head, with the buns transformed to look like cupcakes.

A little boy got in on the fun, too, with fake eyes in his hair and a tongue drawn on his forehead.
