Set the scene for us. What's this place all about?
Relais Santa Croce Florence is Florentine luxury at its very best—and barely two blocks from the Santa Croce church itself. The historic Renaissance-era palazzo is impeccably restored, with resplendent marbles and frescoes, and positioned comfortably away from the city's touristy chaos.
Nice. Who are we likely to see here?
This is a super-elite crowd that prefers quiet anonymity—no one is here to brag or show off. You'll see lots of well-to-do honeymooners, too.
How's check-in and service overall?White-glove all the way.
If we really want to maximize our visit, is there a specific room we should try to book?
The De Pepi Presidential Suite is truly over the top, with a vaulted ceiling with gorgeous frescoes. The overall decor is luxurious and chic; think sumptuous wallpaper, period furniture, and high-end Pratesi sheets.
Sounds blissful. Any little amenities we'll find that make the stay all the more comfortable?
Rooms have well-stocked minibars, daily (and complimentary) confections by the in-house chef, Ortigia bath products, and excellent hair dryers. Several bathrooms also have steam saunas.
If we want a little more than minibar and daily confections, what are our options?
Rooms also have coffee and tea; but the breakfast room is lovely and the buffet is wonderful. There are two onsite restaurants: Guelfi e Ghibellini (classic Tuscan cuisine) and Enoteca Pinchiorri (with three Michelin stars). The Sala di Musica (the communal lounge) is a gorgeous backdrop for late-afternoon aperitivi.
Anything else we should know about staying here?
Relais Santa Croce has a great selection of experiences that grant insider access to local artisans, galleries, and events.
