North Shore, ward of Auckland, northern North Island, New Zealand. It is located on a peninsula that juts into Waitemata Harbour, and it faces Rangitoto Channel to the east. North Shore was designated a city in 1989 and was part of the Auckland metropolitan area. In 2010 the government of Auckland Region was reorganized into a unitary authority, and North Shore became a ward of the enlarged city of Auckland governed by the Auckland Council and two local boards.
