Everything was more than fine. Recommend this accommodation to anyone. Would use again!! I had a 76 mile journey on my racing bike ahead of me and the breakfast was not only lovely but set me up perfectly for the cycle! Good fuel. Was even offered more if I wanted it. Even had relaxing music in the background!! The hostess made you feel at home. Lovely lady.

The Hazel Hut, hotel in Louisburgh

Offering a terrace and mountain view, The Hazel Hut is located in Westport, 19 km from Westport Train Station and 37 km from Ballintubber Abbey.

We had an amazing stay at the beautiful Hazel Hut. The location was magical, with Croagh Patrick in full view through the windows of the hut every morning. The sheep and donkeys really added to the country atmosphere too :) The hut itself is gorgeous and has everything you could need or want. We spent one of our evenings enjoying the landscape, drinking tea and reading some books left in the hut. It is only a twenty minute drive from Westport, so we also enjoyed heading into town for dinner. The next morning, we set off to climb the mountains. Would highly recommend it, and we are already looking forward to paying another visit soon. Thank you so much x

Louisburgh was great and I would like to have spent more time there eating and going to the pubs. We didn't because we would like to have walked into town in the evenings but not possible because of the narrow and dangerous roads. It was a great town.

Weather was not great, but location was so central that there was plenty to do. Choice of restaurants was not great as the season does not really start until July but Gaffneys in Louisburgh and Campbells and the Tavern in Murrisk are really excellent. McNamara's Pub in Bridge Street is really friendly and comfortable

Mary and Pat are the perfect hosts. Mary had gone to the trouble of providing coconut milk for me. I was initially welcomed with tea and cake, which was so nice. The area is stunning and very rural with ample scope for walking. Hope to return some time.

We stayed in a wonderful B&B called Sleepy Hollow, which was about 25-30 minutes walk (or 5 minutes drive) from Louisburgh town centre. There are two excellent swimming beaches just outside Louisburgh - Old Head and Carrowmore. Both are lovely (and have working public toilets, lifeguard, etc.), but Carrowmore was our favourite. We ate dinner in the Derrylahan Bar one night, which was lovely. A few minutes drive back towards westport is The Tavern in Murrisk - we ate there twice and the food was terrific. We had pints in An Bhun Abhann, which is an exquisite traditional style pub. We also enjoyed tea and cake in TIA which is in the middle of Louisburgh. There's a lovely little community book shop in town that's worth a visit. I think it's called Books One or something like that. If you're staying in Louisburgh for a few days, I recommend a day trip to Clare island - the ferry leaves from Doonagh pier which is about 15 minutes by car from Louisburgh. The ferry takes about 20 minutes and the ticket price was 17 euro for a return ticket.
