Walk and Talk coming to Ballyhaise

The Cavan limb of the Agri Aware's Farm Walk & Talk events will come to Ballyhaise Agricultural College next week.

The Farm Walk and Talk events are held in 11 locations across the country for leaving certificate agricultural science students to get real life farm experience and witness best practice agriculture in person and off the page.

The Ballyhaise event will take place on Thursday, March 14.

Although many agricultural science students come from farming backgrounds, the series allow students to get a taste of other areas of farming they may not have experienced before. Students get to see the workings of a farm and learn about the subject through the lens of their IIS (Individual Investigative Study) topic.

The event at the Teagasc college will see talks and demonstrations by agri-experts to Leaving Certificate Agriculture Science students.

The well attended events see the Agri Aware team joined by event partners Teagasc, UCD and the Irish Farmers Journal as well as a number of patrons.

Speaking at the conclusion of week one of the series, Agri Aware Executive Director Marcus O’Halloran said that “feedback from students and teachers has been excellent thus far".

“The Agri Aware team, event partners and patrons have come together to really put on fantastic, interactive and engaging talks and demonstrations that have provided students with practical knowledge – and, from speaking to some students, a desire to pursue a career in the agriculture industry.”
