Roxy Music to release 'Best Of' album on vinyl for the first time

Roxy Music is releasing their Best Of album on vinyl for the first time to coincide with their 50th anniversary tour of the UK later this year.

The Best Of Roxy Music was first released in 2001 on CD and features at least one song from all eight of the band’s studio albums, including hits like Avalon, Love Is The Drug and Mother of Pearl.

The eighteen tracks are arranged in reverse-chronological order and span the rock band’s career between the years 1982 to 1972. Now fans can get their hands on the iconic collection of songs in 180-gram black vinyl and limited yellow vinyl.

Both LPs include restored and enhanced artwork and lyrics and have been remastered at half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Roads Studios.

The album also features the song More Than This, which has garnered more than 123 million streams, along with Virginia Plain, Angel Eyes, Do The Strand and Street Life.

Other tracks featured on the album include Oh Yeah, Dance Away and Over You, as well as Roxy Music’s cover of John Lennon’s Jealous Guy- which went to No.1 in the UK in 1981.

It’s set to be quite a landmark year for the band as they celebrate 50 years of their ground-breaking self-titled debut album and 40 years since their eighth and final studio record, Avalon, which also shot to No.1 in the UK album charts upon release in 1982.

To celebrate, Roxy Music is embarking on their first tour in a decade with Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera and Paul Thompson taking to the stage together for the first time since their 2011 For Your Pleasure tour.

Kicking off in North America this September, the 50th anniversary tour will be arriving in the UK from 10 October, with three special dates in Glasgow, Manchester and London. For more information on tickets, see here.

As well as the new Best Of vinyl, Roxy Music has also reissued their eight studio albums as special anniversary editions with a new half-speed cut, revised artwork and deluxe gloss laminated finish.
