According to information from the French managers of GEIE-TMB and SFTRF, in the Mont Blanc and Fréjus tunnels, traffic in the next month will be difficult due to maintenance work. In addition, a traffic ban was introduced in the tunnels for older trucks and fees increased.

Due to the maintenance work in the Fréjus tunnel, the traffic will be rotating with one belt from tomorrow (January 8) – from 11:55 pm to 5 am the next day. Drivers will face similar difficulties on:

– 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 January from 11:55 pm to 5 am the next day,

– 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 31 January and 1 and 2 February from 10:30 pm to 6 am the next day.

However, the Mont Blanc Tunnel will be closed for renovation works on January 14 (Monday) from 10 pm, until 6 am the next day.

In addition, on 15, 16 and 17 January from 10:30 pm to 6 am the next morning in the direction of Italy and to 5:30 am the next day in the direction of France, the movement will alternate with one belt. Therefore, you should expect difficulties between 9 pm and 10 pm and between 6 am and 7 am.

Prohibition for older trucks and increased fees

We also remind you that in both tunnels from January 1 this year traffic ban will apply to heavy goods vehicles above 7.5 tonnes, which meet the Euro 3 emission standard. In addition, the managers of both facilities increased their prices by 2.93 per cent at the beginning of the year. New rates of fees can be found on the operators’ websites: SFTRF and GEIE-TMB.
