Background: Chocolate covered strawberries are the ultimate Valentine’s Day treat! Don’t overspend on store-bought desserts when you can make your own heart-shaped chocolate covered strawberries goodies relatively easy! Plus, everyone always appreciates something that you put your time and effort into.
- cake pop sticks or small wooden sticks
- 2 pounds fresh strawberries, medium to large
- 2 cups dark or milk chocolate
- Rinse strawberries and gently pat dry.
- With a paring knife or small, sharp knife, carve out the stem in a circular motion creating a heart. You can always make the v-shape deeper if you need to.
- Gently insert the cake pop stick into the strawberry and set on a platter or cookie sheet.
- Heat chocolate in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth and melted. We used Baker’s dipping chocolate that came in 7 oz. cups. They were so easy to use and cut down on the mess!
- Dip the strawberries in melted chocolate. Let them dry on parchment paper until the chocolate firms.
- Optional: Add festive sprinkles before the chocolate firms for an extra pop of color!
Whether it’s for a Valentine’s get together or just a fun activity to do with your kids, these strawberries are a simple way to make a statement. We made them for a Galentine’s Brunch along with our Raspberry Pina Colada cocktails!
