The Hot Chick (2002)

Let’s go back in time to 2002.  Rob Schneider plays The Hot Chick.  High school slapstick and implied dick shots run rampant in this half-baked narrative of a switcheroo during which a sexy teenaged girl, Rachel McAdams, and a dirty thief and scam artist, Rob Schneider, maintain their personal identities but switch bodies.  Admittedly awful in any number of ways, this movie is also full of laughs.  Highly politcally incorrect and disgustingly hyperbolic, if you’re willing to go brain dead for about an hour and a half, this would be a good movie to do it to.  Rob Schneider performs at his best as he attempts to portray a confused young girl pretending to be both a Hispanic gardener and a straight man while also coping with boy troubles.  Anna Faris (also in such film memorables as Scary Movie and Brokeback Mountain) is another highlight of the movie; playing the best friend of the hot chick, her performance especially shines in the in-between moments when she doesn’t say anything at all and her facial expression speak volumes.  By no means is this a fantastic movie, but it is certianly highly entertaining.

My rating: a high 4/10.

Unfortunately, I (in my old age and after faaaar too much feminist theory) actually found it rather offensive. But I am glad you guys could enjoy it. 🙂

Do you seriously believe that I actually DON’T find it offensive? Of course it is. It’s just so incredibly over the top that it’s practically impossible to take seriously. It just comes back around again and you have to stop and say, “Oh yeah, this movie was written and made by morons; I can laugh at that.”

No no no, I totally understand that.
I just can’t actually remove myself from it and enjoy it… sorry.

Oh come on Maia! Don’t let all that theory ruin your sense of humor!

It’s not just the theory… I don’t know what it is. I just don’t find it funny. :/
I think that it’s just not my kind of humor. I’ve tried to appreciate it, but I can’t. I really hate Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider kind of bugs me, and I can barely stand Will Ferrell (Stranger Than Fiction, or as long as he’s not the lead).
It’s just personal taste. Sorry if I’m a buzzkill. I do love Zoolander, though, which is in the same vein.

Yeah I can definitely understand that, I’m actually the same way with Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider. I mostly find them annoying and can’t stand hardly any of their stuff, but The Hot Chick’s the exception. Probably just because it reaches whole new levels of bad. It’s almost on a Tommy Wiseau level.
