Leenane Hotel is located in the village of Leenane in Co Galway, Ireland – part of the Connemara region of Ireland.
Overlooking Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord, the Hotel enjoys what is perhaps one of the most scenic locations in Ireland.
The Leenane Hotel has played host to Kings and Mortals for the last three centuries and like all good things, has improved with age! Originally established as a Coaching Inn, the earliest records show that there has been an establishment in existence here since the 1790’s. As you would expect, standards have come a long way since then but you will still find that the essential character of the Hotel and the surrounding area remains.

Lori2024-04-29Loved our stay at this hotel in Leenane the location is so beautiful. Nice hike right from hotel. ☺ Breakfast was excellent, views are gorgeous, rooms not huge but adequate. The library/lounge space is an awesome communal space for guests. Had dinner one night and it too was very good. ☹ room could be larger but it was fine.

Bert C2024-04-27Loving Leenane hotel. As far as I am concerned the world is divided into two kinds of people, those who love the leenane hotel and those who have yet to stay there. There's 200 years of character soaked into this building and the owner honours that legacy everywhere. Service is top drawer, as is food and value for money. But the location, unreal. Let yourself unwind here for a night or weekend, the sea and hotel will lift your soul. Try to get a room with a seaview, so worth it.
c k2024-04-22You’ll keep going back! Been here on many occasions and love the country casual vibe. Incredibly beautiful location and good value all round for great accommodation and food. Dog friendly. Only complaint would be the breakfast menu. No fresh fruit as promised on any morning
TITABABABA2024-04-19Worth a Visit to This Out of the Way Destination What a lovely time we had thanks to a comfortable room, attentive staff, delicious food and a world beating view. The hotel sits right at the foot of Killary Fjord, so the views were breathtaking. We had a deluxe double room that faced the fjord, so we were never without a serene view. We’re traveling off-season, so the weather wasn’t great, but we were prepared and it didn’t stop us. Even in the off-season, dinner reservations are a must because there aren’t many accommodation options. The two-night stay/ one dinner option was quite affordable and the four-course meal was great. We didn’t have a car but it was an easy bus ride from Clifden (or coming from Westport, the other way) and the woolen center is an easy walk from the hotel. Lovely people throughout, highly recommended.
helen m2024-04-14AMAZING just back for a 4 night stay absoluty amazing ..we have stayed in this hotel for the last 25 years and it just gets better every time ..food in restaurant and bar was fantastic as was service ..we stayed in the side annex and it was very quiet and clean ..conor agnes and staff will welcome you with open arms ..we feel like family every time we visit so relaxed ....5 star !!
Leonie O2024-04-06Top class service Absolutely outstanding service in the dining room from Ann. The restaurant was full when we arrived (late) on a Tuesday without a booking. Ann made us feel welcome even though she was under pressure with passing trade. We had just come from a funeral nearby as had many other diners, she was apologising for the location of the only seats left. We were given seats out in the front conservatory with beautiful views and watching the world go by. The food was excellent and we didn't have to wait too long for it considering it was so busy. Ann checked on us regularly and we enjoyed her conversation and efficiency. The younger staff were extremely polite and efficient too. Music started up while we were there and they welcomed one if our party to sing a song. They really made such a sad trip for us into a memorable night we won't forget for a long time. We most certainly will be back.
Eileen H2024-04-05Loved it ! I stayed here for 3 nights at Easter, hotel was booked out but still felt very comfortable. Ate here for dinner 3 nights and the food is just beautiful. Lovely big drawing room to relax in, lots of couches, fireplace. There's papers there and magazines to read while you relax. And as for the sights, stunning. This hotel just has it all! 3 stars just isn't enough ***** !

Everything was perfect: the room with small balcony overlooking the fjord requested when booking, the continental or Irish breakfast, the dinners (taken with the breakfast and dinner package included) delicious and very complete (starter, soup, main course, dessert and tea/coffee) and very varied if you stay several nights. Go there with your eyes closed, excellent value for money, friendly, attentive and efficient staff. Just be careful to come to dinner before 8:30 p.m.
Caddyvan2023-11-09What a Location This was the view from my balcony this morning, after a great night out with friends for a meal at the Leenane Hotel, Connemara, County Galway last night. We had a lovely meal, and a good laugh at the most homely Hotel in the country. Everything was just spot on, very enjoyable indeed. The accommodation package including breakfast, won't be beaten anywhere in the country, and that's for sure. I was sorry I couldn't stay at least three nights. If you want peace and quiet, and to just do nothing only eat sleep and relax for a few days, this is the place for you. Honestly, I think I gasped at the great value for money when given the price over the phone. I know from visits to this area that this hotel gets a huge percentage of return custom, and that tells a story in itself. After last night I really know firsthand why this is. I can't wait to go back again. The bus picks up in the village of Leenane for Westport or Clifden, so a little day trip to either town should definitely also be considered. Enjoy. 😏
WardyS2023-11-03Sightseeing holiday and in need of TLC. Superb Everything.... from check in to departure its truly a comfortable and enjoyable hotel, the updated walk in showers are a lovely touch. The food all freshly cooked. Steaks and Fish are faultless, breakfast makes a great start to the day. Highly recommended.
