Abolition May

Abolition May : A short documentary on the month-long call to action to abolish private university police departments. Student activists from across the United States and Canada spent the month of May protesting, speaking and curating art builds. This documentary features The University of Chicago and Care Not Cops, a student-led organization.

Chief Kenton Rainey of UCPD, Provost Lee and the PR team at U Chicago declined to comment.

Their objective? Bet their way through North Carolina and make it back to NYC in the green. Game lineup: Duke vs. Wake Forest, UNC vs. Pitt, and Hornets vs. Heat.

Parlay Hot Seat is Overtime's bi-weekly sports betting series, featuring hosts Alex Day, Matt James and Tyler Cameron. Three guests come on each episode and pitch a parlay to the hosts. If a host likes the parlay, they can bid on it and offer the contestant up to $250 to place the bet.

 

The Visibility of Wealth Inequality at The Kentucky Derby

This short documentary follows the annual events of “the most exciting two minutes in sports.” The film takes on a mostly cinéma-vérité style, putting the wide disparity of wealth between rich and poor in the United States on display.

Chicago Music Exchange

This short features the famous Chicago music shop in Lake View. Julia spoke with the manager of the store and the acoustic specialist to craft an audiovisual experience.

 

Medill Newsmakers Show

Julia anchored her own 15-minute newscast on Abolition May. She did all of the pre and post-production. It will be aired on Channel 27 Chicago on August 10, 2021 at 8:30 pm.
