Crazy Hair Day

So, who else knows CRAZY like me? No one. That’s who! So, I might as well run with it. “Know your strengths,” I always say! So, when I saw that it was Crazy Hair Day at school, I was on cloud nine.😍

I ran through the internet, of course, like any good Pinterest obsessed mom. I ran across some ideas that I really liked. A lot of them I couldn’t do because, while I may have a blond haired daughter, I have a dark brunette son. Dark hair doesn’t leave you with a lot of options when it comes to color.

So, with the help of these four items (purchased at Walmart)…

and a LEGO shark (a MOST important item for this project), I present to you…

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Set insanely excited five-year-old in front of television or iPad because there’s no negotiating with small crazy people.

2. Put smock or towel, securely, around said child. Don’t skip this step. Unless you’re going for Smurf…then by all means…

3. LIBERALLY gel hair with MAXIMUM hold gel. (This is a five-year-old boy, for crying out loud.😐 Don’t worry about a tornado hitting his hair. He IS the tornado.) Shape Hair into desired “wave.” This may require a comb. You may consider using a hair dryer on the cool setting in order to more quickly dry the gel.

If you’re me, however, you take a cheap plastic flashlight, empty the batteries out of it, take the head off of it, and stick the flashlight in said curl – holding it in place – while you go to make the oatmeal that you forgot you needed to feed your child because breakfast is the most important meal of the day and far more important than really freakin’ cool hair….to some people.

4. Spray the bottom of the hair with dark blue, shielding the ears, neck, and so forth to prevent aforementioned Smurfiness.

5. Spray the top crown of the hair in the aqua colored spray giving the illusion of a rising wave.

6. Lastly, spray the tips with white in order to achieve the appearance of the ocean foam.

7. Lastly, adhere LEGO shark or surfer, pirate,….whatever.

8. Take pictures as your child’s penance for all you did too early in the morning.

9. Remind them to thank you for all of the work you did. Because they’re FIVE. At this point, all they care about is that there is a shark on their head. They’re not trying to be self involved.

10. Send your child to school knowing that you achieved a rare #MomWin and in no way can you be surpassed by another mom…for at least the next five minutes.

11. Take a moment to smile and pat yourself on the back as your child – who may or may not have understood all of the work and money you put into this – gets out of the car, excited beyond belief, exclaiming to everyone around him, “Check out my hair! Isn’t it the coolest?!”

PIN IT: Pin this idea so you don’t lose it!

    1. I’m pretty lucky. My son really likes bathtime and is patient with having his hair washed. This is not my first rodeo, luckily. I will have him sit back against the bath wall with his head hanging back into the bath, using the handheld showerhead I will wash his hair that way. It’ll take about three times is longer but it won’t be too painful… For him!😂

  4. I just love this idea! For crazy hair day I usually just color it and leave it at that, but I am so keeping this in mind.

I can see how a little boy can get beyond excited, I would be too! 🙂 At my kid school, there is a crazy hair day once a year, but I have never seemed anything as wacky as those ideas! Those are hilarious!. And now I’m thinking I have to let my girl grow hair so I can make a bum next year 😉

  12. Awesome. I’m trying for some time to get a nice blue shade on my hair without going to a salon. I finally made it. So I know how fun it is to go out of the natural look
