Wayne W. Judd, 66, died Sunday Dec. 3, 2000, at his home from cancer.

He was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Austin to Leonard and Lillian (Gulbrandson) Judd. He attended Columbus grade school and Pacelli High School, where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball, lettering eight times. He was very active in his youth with club league baseball, was a member of the Moose Lodge and played fast pitch and slow pitch softball well into his 40s.

He married Patricia Tate on June 12, 1952, in Austin. His second marriage was to Helen (Dearmin) Bierlen on June 6, 1964, in Albert Lea. Wayne was employed at George A Hormel and Co. from 1952-1983. He then worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a federal meat inspector, retiring in 1996. After his retirement he spent many hours watching his grandchildren playing sports and socializing with friends. He also enjoyed a little golf and bowling.

He is survived by his wife Helen; children, Thomas (Patricia) Judd, Sheridan, Wyo., Randal (Teresa) Judd, Austin, Daniel Judd, Rochester; Karen (Doug ) Kelly of Austin; Roger (Denise) Bierlen, Kasson, Linda (Adam) Weiss, Arlington, Texas, Ralph (Margarita) Bierlen, Des Moines, Iowa, Diana Bierlen, Austin, and Michael Bierlen, Austin; 15 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters, Keith (Delores) Judd, Austin, James (Hildegarde) Judd, St. Paul, Duane (Maggie) Judd, Albert Lea, Mary Ann (John) Ruffins, Chicago, Ill. Barbara (Ronald) Huffman, Austin, and Michael Judd, Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

Wayne has donated his body to Mayo Cancer Research Foundation. There will be no funeral home reviewal.

Service: A Memorial Mass will be held at St Augustine Catholic Church on Friday at 1 p.m.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family in the Jennings Hall after Mass.
