Every year, the TV show "The favorite village of the French", hosted by Stéphane Bern, pits villages from each region of France against each other to choose the most beautiful one in the country. In 2023, the small village of Flagy, located in Seine-et-Marne, on the outskirts of Yonne, represented the Île-de-France region. This year, it's the municipality of Thomery, also in Seine-et-Marne, that will be representing the region. The announcement was made official on Monday, February 19th and voting will close on March 8th. The show will then air on France 3 next June. A little gem of history in Seine-et-Marne

Located along the banks of the Seine, between Montereau and Melun, at the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, this town with a little over 3,400 inhabitants has a lot to offer visitors. Thomery has long been famous for its vines and especially for its famous golden Chasselas grapes, a noble grape variety that delighted, in the past, the kings of France. The Long Sillons, listed as historical monuments, bear witness.

The famous sweetness of this fruit, cultivated on trellises since 1730. 😊🍇

From the Castle of the Rivière to the church of Saint-Amand, passing by the King's baths, nicknamed the "collapsed port", the greenhouses of the Salomon garden or Rosa Bonheur's workshop in the 19th century, there is a historical, but also artistic dimension that revolves around the town of Thomery. Its banks of the Seine have greatly inspired the...Impressionists like Sisley.
