The second walk I made last summer in Scotland was the Great Glen Way from Laggan to Fort Augustus.

The walk is 16 km and can be divided into two parts. The first part follows the left bank of Lake Oich and the second one runs parallel to the Caledonian channel. Unfortunately, the views of Lake Oich from the path on the bank are quite limited. On the other hand, the canal part is far more interesting than the one from Gairlochy to Corpach I walked before…

The path passes the station of the Invergarry. The Invergarry and Fort Augustus Railway was never commercially successful and was decommissioned in 1946. The station, and a couple of 100 yards of rail track, are being restored by volunteers. The path along Loch Oich follows the same trajectory as the railroad tracks.

The road through the forest is really picturesque at times.
