ToyotaToyota fj cruiser is finally killed off with 1000 special models?

Toyota is ending the FJ Cruiser production, for real this time, with a special final edition.

As you may remember, the FJ Cruiser disappeared from American and European markets in 2014, but that wasn’t the case in other parts of the world, the model lived on in Japan until 2017, and it’s still alive in the Middle East until now. Toyota launched in the past several “final special editions” but they were not truly final. However, this time is maybe the on

The news came from Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, a Saudi dealership, in charge of Toyota sales in the Middle East.  They announced that they have the authorization to sell the Toyota FJ Cruiser Final Edition, made specifically for the Middle Eastern markets. The car is a new variation of the FJ cruiser, and it’s limited to 1000 units. After that, everyone should say goodbye forever to the iconic off-roader.

Jei Fujita, Toyota's Chief Representative in the Middle East and Central Asia, tried to comfort FJ Cruiser fans, by shedding the light on other future alternatives: “Although the model will be discontinued, the excitement of off-road capabilities lives on with other adventure-ready Toyota vehicles such as the iconic Land Cruiser, GR Sport Variant, and Prado. I would like to thank our customers for continuing to inspire us to develop ever-better cars tailored to the needs of motorists in the region and beyond.”

We still don’t have the full picture of this special edition FJ, the only hints we have now come from a Japanese article that tried to describe the car, and the bottom line is that all you need to do is to imagine the current model covered in beige. Bodywork, roof, and interior will all come in monotone beige, according to the source at least.

Other details include a black grille, bumpers, mirrors, door handles, and tire cover. And finally, all cars will come with a special final edition badges. Nothing is happening under the hood; the new FJ cruiser will still be powered by the 4.0-liter V6, making 270 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. The A-TRAC traction control crawl control, and e-locking diff systems will also come as standard.

So this is maybe the proper send-off the FJ cruiser is looking for, Toyota can now move on knowing that the special off-roader has served its time honorably and got the proper fare well in the end.
