Object Description
Tapa cloth with brown and black flower-like designs. Siapo vala.
Light to medium-weight off-white two layer cloth, felted and pasted. Evenly beaten layers with four roughly finished natural edges. Four strips across width, overlapping pasted joins. Decorated on one side, rubbed over a cut board design tablet in a matte yellowish red-brown, with freehand painting in a glossy red brown and a dark brown paint. Five design blocks across and three design blocks down; geometric bars forming clover leaves and small hearts and circles. Outer perimeter edges are not painted. Branchholes are patched and overpainted. An adhesive paper sticker with the stamped number '71' is adhered on rear near center of cloth.
