Get a 1st look at the 1st babies of the year including this one, born a mere 16 seconds into 2024

It's a rite of passage for the new year. Let's check out some of the first babies born in 2024.

Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare in El Paso delivered its first baby, Penelope, a mere 16 seconds into 2024, right after the clock struck midnight, according to Las Palmas.

"Everybody was kind of like, shocked, but like, happy. They were just kind of like in disbelief that it actually was 12 o' clock," Penelope's mom, Cynthia Lopez, said.

Baby Penelope, who Lopez said is the "star of the show," weighs 6 lbs 7 oz. and measures 18.25 inches long.

"It was definitely a fun experience; something to be able to tell her about later in life and just a nice memory to have," said Lopez.

One of the first babies of the new year in Syracuse was delivered at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Ikeeme Lamar Simmons was born at 1:10 a.m. at a healthy 6 pounds.

In Wisconsin, ThedaCare says its first baby born at its hospitals in 2024 is Ryker Brooks Avery. He was born at 1:35 a.m. at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca.

His parents, Rabe and Carissa Avery, are from Amherst.

At Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, the hospital's first baby born in 2024 is Grayson Klaubauf.

Greyson was born at 1:46 a.m., weighing 7 pounds and 1 ounce and 20.5 inches long.

Greyson's parents, Tara and Zach Klaubauf of Howard, know a little bit about holiday birthdays. Their oldest son Callan was born on July 4.

A little bit later on New Year's Day came baby Camille at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Camille was born at 8:25 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. She joins her mom, dad and three siblings.

Camp Lejeune celebrates the arrival of the first 2024 baby at the Naval Medical Center in North Carolina.

Staff said the parents USMC Sgt. Jared White and Marine Corps veteran Madison White welcomed Emery Ann White at 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024.

Little sister Emery weighed in at 6 pounds, 4 ounces and is 19.5 inches long.

CarolinaEast is celebrating its first 2024 baby in Craven County, N.C.

The proud parents are Brad McCallum and Ashley McCallum of New Bern who welcomed their first child Spencer McCallum at 8:09 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024.

Baby Spencer weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 21 inches long.

At Holland Hospital in Michigan, Destanee and Omar Rodriguez - Gonzalez welcomed a daughter, Alexia Anara Rodriguez - Gonzalez, at 2:56 a.m. Weighing seven pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 19 inches long, the baby girl was born almost two weeks before her due date, a "welcome surprise" for her parents, according to Holland Hospital.

Geisinger’s two medical centers in northeast Pennsylvania welcomed their first babies of 2024!

Violette Mejia Acosta was born to Gleny Acosta Llanos of Wilkes-Barre at 12:23 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. She weighed 8 pounds, 4.9 ounces and was 19 inches long at her time of birth. Little Violette is welcomed by her mother and two older siblings.

Ian Joel Rosario Lozada was born to Diahana Lozada and Jeremie Rosario of Scranton at 10:36 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Geisinger Community Medical Center. He weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20.5 inches long at his time of birth. Baby Ian is welcomed by his parents and is their first child.
