The Newmarket Viaduct Replacement Project was designed and constructed by the NGA Newmarket Alliance, of which URS was the lead designer. The project involved constructing a new viaduct while and deconstructing the existing viaduct in stages whilst maintaining traffic flows on this busy section of Auckland’s motorway. The project has been recognised worldwide as the first of its type and has won the 2012 World Demolitions Awards and was also a Merit Award at the FIDIC Awards which celebrated the best engineering achievements globally in the last century. 

Peter led the bridge design team for both the construction of the new bridge and deconstruction of the existing bridge. Noel designed the motorway alignment and optimised the road layout as well as designing numerous phases of temporary traffic management required to deconstruct and build new structures within the fully functional motorway.
