After a wonderful day of touring Yvoire, France, we took the ferry back to Nyon, Switzerland. This is a pretty little town situated on Lake Geneva and about 15 miles north east of Geneva.
We had over an hour before dinner and used that time to tour around a little bit. Nyon is very easy to navigate by foot, in fact it is much better to leave the car in a parking lot by the water.
Chateau de Nyon Castle. This white castle houses the local history museum as well as the porcelain exhibit. Porcelain was produced in Nyon between 1781-1813 and was of such great quality, France started to manufacture knockoffs.
Views of Mont Blanc in the distance.
These hydrangeas were huge!
Our dinner was at Cafe du Marche, a lovey restaurant on a very quiet street.
The inside of the restaurant looked very pretty but it was such a lovely evening, we chose to eat outside.
The amuse bouche was a delicate leak soup.
Since we were dining with friends, we tasted a lot of what was on the menu.
Salad with Buffalo mozzarella and pickled onions.
Shrimp croquettes.
Veal tartare.
Steak with tomatoes.
I totally forgot what this was, a friend ate that.
Fresh fish.
I got fish and chips with pea and mint puree, it was wonderful.
A sublime cheesecake for dessert.
This was mine and after having my first spoonful, I really regretted that I offered to share it with my dear friends. It was a rhubarb crumble that had the perfect amount of tart and sweet. I never would have paired it with chocolate ice cream but it worked so beautifully.
We all decided that the entire dinner was Tres Delicieux!! Everything we ate was of superb quality, it was creative and the service was excellent.
As we walked back to the car, we stopped by the lake to take in the beautiful view. Our vacation was off to a wonderful start.
